The #1 Question "How do I choose a Martial Arts school for my child or myself?"

The basic principles & fundamentals are the same for choosing a school for yourself or your child. However, there are special considerations when children are involved that one must look into.

Step one in choosing a school is to clearly understand what you want your child to gain from learning the martial arts. Is it light recreation and playtime? Then a community center program may fit your needs, not a fulltime professional school! Is it self-defense, personal development and fun? If so, then a full-time professional school will be more suitable. Many parents view the martial arts as part of their child's educational development and with a good professional school, it is that indeed!

Step two is to recognize that choosing a school is really choosing the instructor. Be sure to visit the school and watch the instructor work with other children of the same age. Every school is very different because every instructor is different. Don't get confused by claims of black belt degrees, tournament wins or martial art styles. The only style that matters is the teaching style of the instructor and how your child will respond to him or her.

Finally, trust your instincts. A professional school will have a family atmosphere, lots of smiles, and a clean, professional and safe environment. You'll feel comfortable with the personnel and the facility.

While this may not end up being the closest school to your house, when it comes to your safety or the safety and education of your child, an extra ten-minute drive can make a world of difference in the outcome.

Trust us...martial arts is not the same everywhere you go! In addition: ask the big question: How long does it take to get a black belt? If the answer is less than 4 years and you see a room full of 7 year old black’s time to visit another school!

"What do we do if we are coming from another martial arts school?"

Please understand, martial arts and the standards within the schools may not be the same. In our organization we maintain high standards for our students, especially black belts, therefore you will not see any 8 or 9 year old black belts…it is simple, they do not have the maturity to wear that permanent black belt.

Our procedure is to review the student and see where their skills are according to the average student in the classroom. In most cases, students are required to start over. That is, learn our curriculum. We always tell the students to never forget what they have learned but always strive to learn more.

It is our intention to secure the student’s spirit and love of the martial arts first and foremost. We do not want them in over their heads, we will do our best to place them in the class best suited for their present skills.

"Additional Questions & Concerns"

• Will my child learn to defend himself/herself?
• Will he/she learn to avoid a fight?
• Will he/she become more self-confident?
• Will my child get hurt?
• When will he/she test?
• When will he/she receive his/her black belt?

Many of these questions are just examples of what parents and prospective students ask us. Initially in a general response it is safe to surmise that we want to know what specific questions you have and knowing your specific questions will assist us to understand your concerns and expectations you may have from us.

The more information we have from you will allow us to do our professional best to meet your needs and expectations. We encourage everyone to set an appointment and allow us to hear your comments so we may show you how we can answer the above questions or any additional concerns you may have.

Martial Arts is Great for Children
We are here to help you achieve your goals.

From our "Little Ninjas" to our "Kickin' Adults", AmeriKick’s total program of family fun, fitness and self-defense is the reason thousands of students have made us their choice for getting more kick out of life.
For children, we offer a variety of classes, beginning with pre-school. We specialize in focusing and concentrating skills that include a fun atmosphere of respect and courtesy.

A psychological study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks, and a higher sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using martial arts to supplement their children's education.

Our Reward System Improves Children's SELF-ESTEEM
The belt system is a key ingredient to building esteem. When children earn their belts it gives them a great sense of personal accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves.

Our Program(s) Teach(es) Kids DISCIPLINE
We have a trained staff of patient instructors who love to work with children, but are also very clear about limits. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same good behavior at home and in school.

Our Activities Channel Children's AGGRESSION
Many healthcare professionals have recommended our school because it gives children a positive outlet for releasing their pent-up energy.

Our Program Teaches Children Essential SELF DEFENSE SKILLS
Our program teaches practical, proven self-defense methods. We teach children that the techniques instructed have a proper time and place, so they don't leave the school and try them on family members, friends or neighbors.

For adults, we have Traditional martial arts classes, cardio karate, and self-defense programs designed to get you in shape fast... with the skills you need to protect yourself and improve your fitness!
