Sensei Robert Baum,
Chief Instructor and Owner of AmeriKick Lenexa, has over
25 years of experience in the martial arts. A native of
the Kansas City area, he began studying karate at the
age of 9 and has earned black belts in multiple styles
of martial arts, including Bushidokan Karate, Shotokan
Karate, and Shin Nagare Karate. Sensei Robert is an
AmeriKick certified martial arts instructor and has
taught numerous self defense seminars.
As a former member of Team Leiker International
Competition Team, Sensei Robert has been rated among the
top competitors on the local, regional, and national
levels. In addition, he is the former WCMA World
Champion in Fighting. This experience has given Sensei
Robert the opportunity to meet and train with world
class martial artists which contributes to the success
that he has had over the years. While he does not travel
as much as he used to, Sensei Robert still enjoys
competing when time allows and attends several local and
regional tournaments each year, as well as a couple of
national tournaments. In addition to being a competitor,
Sensei Robert is a certified referee with the Pro‐Am
Sport Karate Circuit and regularly judges all levels of
martial arts competitions.
Family life is very important to Sensei Robert. He is
married to a wonderful woman, Debra, who assists him in
the office at the school. They are proud parents of four
children, three of whom are in the martial arts (the
youngest will begin training when he turns three years
old). With having four children of his own, Sensei
Robert has learned how to effectively interact with
children and teach them using techniques that convey the
lesson plans in a method that the students can easily
understand.
Sensei Robert is excited to be part of the Lenexa
community and fully believes that through his teaching
in this community, it will help to make Lenexa, as well
as surrounding areas, safer places to live and work.
